Both Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna and Jive’s Chris Brown are on their second singles, as their respective labels press on in their efforts to penetrate the all-important Pop arena—and to generate sales on their acts’ new albums. Although Rihanna’s initial single didn’t go far at Pop, her 180k bow topped her previous LP’s 153k, which wound up selling 2.5m. Brown’s first track didn’t cross to Pop, which factors into the 150k projection on his Dec. 8 album, compared to a 295k debut for his previous LP, which went on to sell 1.9m. Rihanna’s new “Hard” is taking off at radio, while Brown’s Pop-leaning “Crawl” is just getting started, as both labels play catch-up.

Justin Bieber Channels His Inner Eminem

Nothing goes better together than Justin Bieber and Eminem. Both with their deep roots in Detroit's hardscrabble neighborhoods and a shared bond forged through years of hard knows and discrimination against their gansta rap dreams. They're basically one in the same.

To celebrate the classic diddy "Lose Yourself" at his recent concert stop in Detroit, Baby Biebs attempted to put his sweet, soothing voice in his back pocket for a minute and paid homage to his 8 Mile rap hero.

He musta been proud too, because afterwards he tweeted, "last night in Detroit was nuts...had to pay respect to that guy from 8 mile. EMINEM is a beast," along with a link to the vid.

Hmmm...so, how did he do? Let's just say he should stick to what he does best: romancing tha ladies.

On Friday December 4th, I was lucky enough to spend the whole day at Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank. My mission was to film footage for a /Film Exclusive documentary about the return of hand-drawn animation, focusing on Disney’s superlative new picture, The Princess and the Frog.

Franco will already be at the fest for his feature-length movie Howl, but he’ll also be screening Herbert White, a Michael Shannon-starring student film that Franco shot earlier this year for NYU. No, this isn’t the homoerotic short that Franco submitted to Cinevegas (that would be The Feast of Stephen), but it is based on a work by gay poet Frank Bidart.

Other notable shorts include Spike Jonze’s robot love film I’m Here, starring Andrew Garfield, Rory Kennedy’s examination of the U.S./Mexico border entitled The Fence, and short films from Nicholas Jasenovec, Ira Sachs, and Patrik Eklund. Keep reading for the full lineup.

Fox's highly-anticipated high-school set musical "Glee" first hit viewers earlier this year with a sneak peak, and had them humming "Don't Stop Believing" all summer long and into the fall as the show became a hit. We were there at the beginning, and have added photos from the final episode of the year to refresh the gallery. The glee club show features Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Kevin McHale and more.

What Adam Lambert controversy? After cancelling the American Idol finalist's appearances on "Good Morning America" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" as a result of his racy performance at the American Music Awards (in which he shoved a male dancer's face in his crotch and kissed a male member of his band), ABC aired a romantic scene between two male characters on their soap opera "One Life to Live" today. While the characters of Oliver Fish and Kyle Lewis (played by Scott Evans and Brett Claywell) didn't exactly hit a home run (they were interrupted with the news that Kyle's ex-boyfriend was badly hurt in a gay-bashing), the romantic scenes were still groundbreaking in showing two men in love, and in bed, just as they would show any heterosexual couple on the soap. Check out the clips below and decide for yourself if it's enough to give ABC a reprieve over their post-AMA treatment of Lambert.

The adaptation of Rachel Klein's The Moth Diaries should begin filming this year, and we got an update from the movies head vampire actress, Lily Cole, on her role and the mystery that surrounds this new character.

The book is told through the diary of a young teen girl in a private school who is obsessed with her classmate Lucy, and Lucy's possible vampire roommate Ernessa. It's left ambiguous: The reader never really knows if the school is housing a real-life porcelain-skinned vampire girl, or if the narrator is just obsessed with Ernessa's roommate. We got a chance to catch up on this project with the actress from Dr. Parnassus, Lily Cole, cheering her on for making a female-centric vampire film, in the wake of shirtless, sparkly, six-packed male vamps and wolves.

Q.When do you start filming for The Moth Diaries?

A.As far as I'm aware it's in the beginning of next year. And as far as I know, they were talking about Montreal. But nothing has been set in stone, this industry is always clouds.

Q.Which character are you playing from the novel there's the narrator or the author of the novel, her obsession Lucy or the possible vampire girl Ernessa?

A.I'm supposed to play Ernessa, the girl who is accused of being a vampire. The aspect I like about the book is you don't know for sure. I like the ambiguity in the book. Although it points quite lightly [to the idea] that she is a vampire, there's always the slight possibility that she's not. And the girl who is telling the story has psychological issues and is projecting these ideas on to this other character. I like that a lot.
